Why should I purchase an Household EMS Membership?

The North Fork Ambulance Association is supported entirely by membership dues, grants and donations, not tax revenue. By households and businesses in the North Fork Valley purchasing EMS Memberships from the North Fork Ambulance, we all help ensure that quality pre-hospital emergency care remains right here in the North Fork Valley.

As the only, ambulance service available in the North Fork Valley, the NFAA is responsible for providing Basic Life Support service to a territory in excess of 1500 square miles, encompassing areas within Delta, Montrose and Gunnison counties, three coal mines, the West Elk and Ragged Mountain Ranges, the Black Canyon National Park and everything in-between! That's a service area roughly the size of the state of Rhode Island - not many agencies can say that!

Each year, as more people move into or simply visit the North Fork to enjoy its breathtaking beauty, wonderful climate and natural wonders, calls for emergency medical treatment increase. As calls for service increase, additional financial strains are placed on the NFAA, making it difficult for the NFAA to continue providing a high quality service, at low costs, while maintaining state of the art resources and equipment. To accomplish our goals and objectives each year, we rely on the membership dues of households and businesses located within the North Fork Valley. The concept is so simple, some people can't believe it!

Become a Member Today

Join the North Fork Ambulance Association and help keep ambulance costs low for everyone in the North Fork Valley. Think of the North Fork Ambulance as an Emergency Medical Service Cooperative - the more people who pay into the cooperative, the greater the benefit there is for everyone involved.

Think you don't need an EMS Membership because you have insurance? Check your policy. Most health insurance companies, especially health insurance plans offered through employers do not cover ambulance transports. This means that when an emergency arises you can be stuck with a $1,500 to $2,000 ambulance bill with no assistance from the insurance company!

In today’s age of rising health care costs, you can take advantage of an invaluable service while ensuring that this service remains a community-based asset. Since 1969 the residents and the business owners of the North Fork Valley have built the NFAA into the incredible emergency medical service it is today. The NFAA provides a level of care far above that of any proposed tax-based ambulance system for our rural coverage area .
