Please replace what you use on each run, upon returning to the barn following the run, so that the rigs are always stocked and ready to go!
-
EMTs- It is your responsibility to ensure that a computer report is completed in full, each time the rig leaves the barn. This includes runs where you get stood down by dispatch, have no patient contact and EMS standbys. If you complete a hand-written report, it is your responsibility to make arrangements to get to the barn and type out a full report.
- Crews - Please be diligent about rotating out medications (ie- Charcoal, Glucose, Nitro, etc.) on the rigs at three months prior to the expiration date.
- Drivers & EMTs alike need to attend monthly scheduling meetings to learn what is going on in each community, learn changes that are taking place, inventory levels, how to use equipment, practice skills and learn where everything is in the rigs!
- Practice incident command at small scenes and it will help us all out when we have a large scale MCI!

Call Review Scheduled for July 26th!!
EMTS and drivers, Call Review has been scheduled for Monday, July 26th at the Hotchkiss Fire Station at 7:00pm. Please make every effort possible to attend.
At the March Call Review, Dr. Pruett and Paonia EMT-I Connie Black provided training on the new Albuterol Nebulizers which the State of Colorado Rule of 500 for EMTs now allows EMT-Basics to utilize in the treatment of patients. The following suggestions from Dr. Pruett should be kept in mind:
- For any patient that is having difficulty breathing, ensure that you get a complete history, listen to lung sounds, take baseline vitals- including Oxygen Saturation, and what you heard when you assessed lung sounds, and Call for Medical Direction, if you think an Albuterol Nebulizer is indicated.
- EMTs must complete training on the Albuterol Nebulizers before being signed off on using them. If you were unable to attend call review, please contact Kathy Steckel at mail@northforkambulance.com to find out about the next training.
- Remember - Head Trauma + Blood Thinners = High Index of Susipicion/Poor Outcome for Patients - Stay on your toes!
- The Blood Draws which we do enroute to the hospital are just a convenience for the ER staff and if they are not done properly will have to be repeated. Be sure you adhere to the proper procedure when doing blood tubes!
